Belgian Coticules for Sale
During my exploits on eBay I received a message from this person from France that stated that he has several Belgian Coticules for sale. These are the hones with the slate backing. The sizes and prices are listed below:
Length X Width ............................Price
15cm X 7cm (5 7/8" X 2 3/4") 100 Euro (Approx. $132.00 USD)
15cm X 4cm (5 7/8" X 1 1/2") 80 Euro (Approx. $106.00 USD)
12cm X 4cm (4 3/4" X 1 1/2") 60 Euro (Approx. $79.00 USD)
Shipping is 10 Euro (Approx. $14.00 USD)
If you desire one of these PM me and I will email him and give him your email address and he can contact you.if anything has been abnormal for a long enough period it then becomes normal.

The 15*7 coticule for 100 euro is a reasonable (not cheap) price.
But the others are WAY overpriced.
See here for new coticules for less money.

This is where mine came from. I have a 175*40 for 65 euros.
It comes with free lapping stone.
And it has a back of blue belgian, though that is generally not the case. I just got lucky

Coticules come in 3 qualities: extra, extra-extra and kosher quality. You can check the going prices for extra and extra-extra here: http://www.belgischerbrocken.com/ Click on the Union Jack and then on the 1st link that appears.
Jewish quality stones are 30% more expensive than the extra-extra.
I bought my Jewish quality stone glued on slate 6" x 1 5/8" + rubbing stone for 60 euros at the quarry.
So whether it's good value or not depends on the quality on offer.Last edited by Kees; 12-15-2006 at 02:00 PM.

I was lucky to get half this on vintage stones but I saw a 2x4 natural bring $207 the other night on ebay.
Prices vary alot and on vintage stones one never know theb quality level but I have never had a bad vintage stone.
