after honeing a dull razor on the 4/9 norton and going to the 1mic and 0.5 mic pasted wood paddle, what pyramid pattern would you use for the paddleand for that matter what pattern do you use on such a paddle to touch up your blades

I can refresh my blades with 5-7 laps on CrO2-on-leather or 20-25 laps on CrO2-on-wood, but the wood paddle seems to leave a sharper and stronger edge.

You do not need to use a pyramid by the time you get to a paddle strop. If you have been using an X pattern for honing then you can continue using the X pattern on the paddle strop.

really my question was, what is the progession from the nortons, freshly honed, to the paddle. is it the same as to refresh a blade, that is no longer shaveing fresh, after just stroping.
what would the Barber of Seville have to say about all this?!!!!!!!!
    thanks mike
