Thanked: 458At least it didn't get you on the way down. The only time I've legitimately dropped a razor was a freshly honed vintage singing razor that as I dropped it, I jerked up and back to get my hands out of the way. Unfortunately, as the razor was headed down and my hand was being jerked up and out of the way, the two met with a *pinggggggg* as the razor filleted the end of my finger and then proceeded to the floor, anyway.
No damage to the razor, though. Fortunately.

Don't feel bad. I have a livi-takeda and the 2nd time I used it the thing flew out of my hand as though it was jet propelled and hit a scuttle blade first. It had nicks all along the edge. I was able to fix it but the language would have made a sailor blush...oh wait, I was a sailor.

I have dropped several razors on several different occasions. Luckily I never did any serious damage that could not be easily fixed. I am a tad uncoordinated, especially in the morning.

Dropped a razor for the first time
After I whacked the first one on the sink (luckily only a small chunk out of the end that I was able to round off) I started to use the rubber matting that designed for shelves on the edge and the bottom of the sink. Also have a small piece on the top of the faucet. Stand on an old oriental rug that covers the subway tile floor( just in case).

Dropped a razor for the first time
Thanks for all the support. I've been waiting to post on this one till I shave with it.
I honed it yesterday and it didn't pass the shave test. Probably cause of finishing on coticule.
I'll go back today and rehone, finishing on 12k and paste and see what happens.

While in the process of changing its scales, I recently dropped my Hart 6/8 square point onto the quartz counter top. It now has several dings along its edge. The good news is that this was my justification to acquire a Norton 220/1000 combo to be used for rehab/bevel setting.

Thanked: 1936Unless I have blunted the edge, I always tape the edge while doing any repair work on pins & scales. I learned the hard way too...
