Dropped a razor for the first time
I was just about to finish honing and shave with a Torrey razor when I dropped it. It fell on the cement floor in my basement.
I'm actually surprised there wasn't more damage. I'll be able to fix it but the edge is totally ruined. There are nicks along the whole edge and some are "bevel deep"
I put on three layers of tape and honed for a while on 220. I've still got a lot of honing left when I get home.
Heartbreaking

It's a necessary rite of passage. As they say, "the first time is the hardest". Knife honers know that one always cuts one's self AFTER not before the knife is honed. Razors usually get dropped just as you are finished working on them.

Ugh, a Torrey too.
One time, in band camp, I shaved with a Gold Dollar razor.

Michael, up until a couple months ago, I was fortunate to say I hadn't yet joined the club. Initiation is a miserable feeling. 'Sorry to hear & hope neither of us has to pay any more dues.

Thanked: 1936Welcome to the club! At least you didn't bust the blade...I have more than once. I'm glad you can save it. I normally start repairing an edge like that on the DMT and hone it like a knife holding up the spine at about a 45 degree angle, then go to the stones with three layers of tape...faster this way.
