Default 3/4 grind vs. full hollow

Does one use the same honing techniques on a 3/4 hollow as one does for the full hollow ground blade?

I do - the only time I change is for wedges.

Then I use a narrower bit of tape under the full width one and only change the top one as it wears.

It's worked for me so far YMMV
Hang on and enjoy the ride...

Pretty much, yeah...I have a 3/4 hollow, and the only thing I'll say (and this is echoing the above poster), is that you may want to use a layer of tape...

Default 3/4 grind vs. full hollow

On a very basic level all honing is the same, you set a bevel, then polish it. I have honed full hollow, 3/4, 1/2, and 1/4s...I cannot really say there is much difference owing to the grinds as much as the difference owing to other factors (such as smiles, spikes, muted spikes, and various repair techniques for chips, warps, or frowns).

I guess what I am trying to say (as an admitted novice honer) is that there are likely bigger causes for technique change than the grind.

The only difference I see is that the 3/4 is just "a little bit " more forgiving pressure when you reset the bevel.

One way to forgive pressure is to apply it as little as possible in the first place.

Yes, once again an example of a non-difference if you are honing properly in the first place. That sounds arrogant perhaps, but I really think that grind makes little difference in honing other than thicker grinds often require more time to reach the goal.

Actually there is no difference, maybe just total time spent honing, nothing else.
