One more to pile on. I have nothing against sprays or pastes, but there's no need to be cryptic. If I were down under, I would recommend offering bribes (if that's what it took) to get some time w/ Onimaru55.. Seriously, the face to face time will teach you more in a very short time than most any other method. I've not forgetten what the seller said when I bought a fancy rock - Onimaru was the best he's seen w/ a razor and stone.
Sometimes they have regional meet-ups. You might want to consider going to the next one for the same reason.

when i hone i must have a secret i dont even know about cause i seem to only be able to hone almost full wedges and meaty blades ... nothing else seems to turn out as well or as smooth ...lol

Nothing secret about my honing; I'll tell anyone who asks and show anyone who's close enough. But the special dance I do before the honing..... that is TOP secret.
