Thanked: 14Glen,
I stropped the razor 100 times this morning. It seemed to have caused less irritation but the shave was not very good. Left longer stubble than usual.
Should I go back to the 1K any really work on a bevel and then work back up though the hones?

Thanked: 13245I always have believed in the Bevel, it seems that everything comes from that stage..
Some of the guys actually took my statements about the bevel being 90% of the work to task and and that the edge at that stage should be able to shave that they did their own experiments and found that it is actually true, there is a thread about those tests on here..
I wasn't sure where you were at with the edge, from the posts, which is why I suggested the least amount of work first..
But I agree with Stefan take it back down and start from a solid well tested and formed bevel then work to 8k and try a shave with just Leather stropping after the 8k that will really help with your learning...

A lot of this depends on where the edge was when you started at 1K. I've never had an edge that needed a bevel set that got anywhere close to a bevel after 15 laps on the 1K. If you already had a good edge, maybe, but my experience has been that a minimum is closer to 100 laps on 1K, and that is a minimum.
