Nice one - congrats!
I have quite a few razors that I have had to hone with multiple layers of tape, and have never used tape when stropping. I stand to be corrected, but I don't think you have to worry about that. Which is good, as having to tape up every time you strop would get pretty annoying after a while.
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

Thanked: 1184The spine is probably more worn on the toe also ? Maybe a small piece just on the toe and then start with taping the whole length ? It's all in the angle relationship of spine to edge. More hone wear less angle, taller bevel. Uneven spine = uneven bevel. If it's been reground then you have the added figure of thickness of blade at bevel. And now that I have confused myself I will stop. :<0)
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

I was having issues with a TI last night, a new one. I spent too much time on it and finally relented, putting tape on the spine. Man, it worked out just fine after that. Still not sure why the heal was not making contact on one side. I was studying the spine and it looks like it was wearing evenly on both sides. Who knows? The bevel does have some funky stuff going on. There are sections where metal is not removed. Some razors hone like magic others make you wanna put your head through a wall.
From their stillness came their non-action...Doing-nothing was accompanied by the feeling of satisfaction, anxieties and troubles find no place

I'm haveing a similar problem with a Roll's Razor blade, i'm now going to set the bevel on my DMT 325 grit and go from there, wish me luck!!!
I will go to my Norton 4K/8K and then .25uM pasted.
When you get a good Rolls' blade it's good, but when you get a funny one, just sit down and relax, your going to be there for awhile.

One thing that I've learned from reading about these problems and from experience is::
The 1st thing I look at is the spine. If there's excessive hone wear its a pass!
I now don't even look at the rest of the razor. At any price!
