Well right now Im not worried about what other people think of my honing, that will come later on down the road. I know that Im picky when it comes to a blade being sharp enough or properly finished for my liking. Im honestly not trying to learn to hone for the sake of making a business out of it, but rather for just being able to sharpen new razors that I get. If later on down the road I can make a few bucks at doing it, then so be it, but for right now thats not my goal.

As far as being "handy" or having mechanical abilities, I like to think I do. Most mechanical work or building stuff comes pretty natural for me, so maybe that helps when it comes to honing razors as well. Who knows.

But I'll be honest, some of the YouTube videos out there about honing has some pretty ridiculous information. Some of these people offering "advice" seem to not know what they are talking about. Im just glad that the people on this forum seem to know their stuff.

I would guess it is not a fluke. I would also guess that you will improve over time. While your results may be "good", you have "great" to look forward to, and "mystical" to aim for.

I think many would agree that honing is a skill that only stops development if we stop it. I try to improve a little with every blade.

Well it doesnt seem to have been a fluke.

Friday evening and Saturday morning were spent honing up another 3 razors; a modified Dubl Duck, a Torrey, and a Bob Allman custom. I had to wait until this morning to shave test them, and I really should have waited until this evening or tomorrow to let the hair grow a bit more but I couldnt wait any longer to shave. I did one pass with each razor and they all passed to my standards. So Im pretty happy with how those have come out.

The only razor I have been trying to hone that is giving me any problems with is one that is a bit warped. Im gonna try using a rolling x-stroke and see what happens with that.
