Me personally... I have a cheap chinese made USB scope that is extremely hard to get a good image with. I sometimes use those cheap loups you can buy for like 4 bucks, but the batteries always run out, and the cells are more expensive than the scope.
Last couple weeks I have been DE shaving though... recently picked up an Ikon razor and love it!

I was having the same trouble with batteries & was just buying new loupe's every time the batteries died. Well I found out that most all of the loupe's take LR-1130 batteries. Just go on Amazon or where ever & you can find them pretty cheap!

Went out and bought another for the shop bench, they are also great for taking photos especially with a USB scope.

Yep, I've found if you buy them in bulk you can get the batteries MUCH cheaper than the loupes. But then you run into your second snag - the loupes are built extremely poorly (no real surprise there, you get what you pay for) and they're not really made to have the batteries replaced. I think I went through 3 sets of batteries total counting the originals that came with the loupe before the loupe was just done. I found on mine the contacts would get bent to the point where they weren't connecting. For a while I could pick them out and get it working again, but they inevitably got weak and broke off. I honestly can't remember what sort of folded tin foil trick I used to get my loupe back in working order at that point, but suffice to say I'll be picking up another one soon in spite of my best efforts to preserve the last one I bought.
