Thanked: 3I ordered the poor man's strop kit from whippeddog. It should be here today or tomorrow. It has a balsa strop with .3 and .1 micron on opposite sides. I'm looking forward to trying the stuff on my razor as well as the balsa strop on my knives. I don't have any technique for flipping the razor when stropping at all. It feels so awkward I'd give up if I didn't know it's a matter of practice. Looking forward to trying this stuff.
Jack
PS
I also have a styptic pencil in the box.

Thanked: 3I got the poor man's strop and it works well. It's the only one I have used so I have nothing to compare it to however. I like it though. The balsa strop that comes with it looks like the balsa wood is not the best quality or choice for strops but I don't know much about that either. I do have some balsa strops for my knives and the wood just looks more refined but I don't know if it matters much. I haven't used it yet. I am getting the razor sharper though. I got Lynn's DVD and have watched it once. I'll watch the sections more that interested me like honing and shaving. I've learned a lot so far.
I'm thinking about buying used razors and restoring them. Does anyone know where to buy parts to do this?
THanks again for all the help I have gotten here. I even have wife looking for Christmas presents for me.
