Default Dovo v.s. W&B taking an edge

Today I honed up two razors, Dovo Prima Klang and W&B wedge. Both hones and honing method were the same, save for heel heading half-moon stroke for the smiling wedge. I set bevel on select 8x3 Coticule with heavy slurry, then moved to BBW starting with milky slurry and thinning down to water and finishing on Coticule with water only. Number of strokes past bevel setting was kept the same. I know I am new to this and things surprise me all the time, still can't believe that steel difference can cause such a drastic difference in the bevel finish.
Both snaps are right off the hone, no stropping no CrOx.
Both razors shaved well and left much less irritation than a pro-sharpened Dovo Bismarck I keep as a benchmark (I guess I will downgrade it from being a benchmark to a point of comparison))
I am happy to say that shaving comfort of the Dovo that I honed is very comparable to when I just got it from SRD.

Is the W&B the top pic? I had my W&B smile wedge shaving at a 9 till I tried to improve it. Lol more like unprove. Couldn't leave alone. Some seem better in aa unpolished state. Relatively speaking. JMHO I'm no master.

nope, actually the lower one is W&B. Looks like it takes a much more polished bevel compared to Dovo

    off the Coticule....

Use a different finisher you might find a different result, but as you say "They both shaved fine"...

This is the departure point, are you absolutely sure you want to take the leap, you are about to depart from "Shaving" and start "Chasing the Edge"

Chasing the edge can get expensive, time consuming, and frustrating, but it can also bring a true sense of accomplishment when things come together right, what pill Neo, the Blue or the Red ???

    haha... red one, as always))
I just want to understand why 2 bevels get a different polish on the same stone and honing method... can steel cause the difference you see on above snaps?

Your bevel shots are under different lighting which makes them look more dissimilar than they really are. If you could shine your light on the second bevel more directly like in the first shot, I think things will compare more favorably. Just a thought.

trust me, I tired both sides, various angles... the W&B is genuinely more polished. Rehoning Dovo did not help at all, same finish on the bevel over and over
