Switched about five months ago to a small (3”) fixed blade. Came with a kydex sheath and I don’t care for kydex so I made my own sheath for it.

Got a new one sharpened to a polished sharp edge by a knife honing friend...a Kershaw Barge, which is a real heavy working knife.

Just got this one from Howard Clark.

They are very cool/fun but not legal to carry in many places. I have utx-85, ultratech, and cypher. I only ever carried the utx-85 a few times when wearing a suit. The high cost of MT otf’s has stopped me from using them for EDC purposes like opening a box because I don’t want to get glue on the blade. They just seem delicate. They hold there value really well though. A

I bought my wife a knockoff ultratech (D2 steel) from Dhgate. She uses it frequently for stuff around the house and is a pretty solid light use knife.

There are better Auto knives (not otf) for the money that I’m not afraid to use. I have two Gerber auto’s that are great. I have the Covert auto which is based on the Fairbairn/Sykes fighting knife although it’s not DE’d (I may get someone to grind/sharpen the unsharpened sledge. Volunteers?). S30V steel, wicked edge, fast action, and a slim profile very similar to an Ultratech. The other is the Gerber 06 auto which is a tank. It is a military issue knife so it is rugged. S30V beefy blade, heavy aluminum scales that fit the hand perfectly, the action is a bit slow but easy to use even with gloves because of a large fire button. Both have solid manual safety’s. Both available in spring assisted.

Boker makes a great, cheap auto knife. The AK-74 series has many blade styles/colors options and is only $40. Aus 8 steel, takes a great edge, and a very fast, snappy action. Great value.

Anyway...my EDC depends based on the days agenda.

1. Spyderco Paramilitary 2. Great all purpose knife w/wicked edge. Main EDC.

2. Case Pen Knife. Small, sharp knife that served as my EDC for years (before I got more into knives). Still carry it often when something bigger isn’t necessary.

3. Gerber 06 Auto. On the large side for EDC. Only carry it when bigger/heavier tasks on the agenda or for short hikes.

4. Gerber Covert. Slim package, sharp tough blade, fast action. My choice when I can’t dress casual. Great self-defense knife.

5. Boker AK-74. It is my “beater knife.” Takes a really sharp edge easily which is good because Aus-8 isn’t great for edge retention. Great value. I’ve paid more for far less quality blades.

Carrying a Joe Calton toggle lock now. Not sure if it will replace my Al Mar. but it is sweet guys

My daily carry, nothing fancy, purely utilitarian, cheap, simple looking and good quality steel

Joe brought a few folders to the Denver meet. At least one of them was a toggle lock. Pretty nice design. Easy open/ easy close.
