Under $100? There are literally hundreds of folders that fit those parameters. I recommend looking at SpyderCo and Benchmade.

Yeah, you'll need to be a bit more specific in what you're looking for in a knife than just price.

What kind of size are you looking for? Any favourite materials? ColdSteel, Benchmade, Spyderco, Buck, Böker and Kershaw for instance. Are all the bigger brands that have LOADS of options under $100.

Depends on the task at hand really, but this is what was at hand in less then a minute at my place. This was taken some time ago and there have been a few additions to this pile that reside in a bedroom cupboard. Many more scattered around the house in places where they get regular use. EDC is, as I wrote in an ealier post, one leatherman and one O.T Stockman. I will one day place all my knives in one spot and take a photo of them...Might scare myself though.

Wasn't looking for a specific model recommendation, just some brands. Lolling for a 3.5-4" folder, something I can punch through sheet metal(last resort) would be great, so tanto point I guess would be best for that. Any big brands to stay away from?

Normally, I would say Cold Steel, but you want a tanto point.

They just look too tacticoolish to me, and in Canada, your knife gets taken away if the cop thinks you're carrying it for self defense.

Living in a big city I think it's kind of frowned upon if I were to carry my knife around with me.

But whenever I'm in the country or camping I have 2 knives with me. Both are kabar military knives. One is a full length USMC knife(7 inch blade overall 12 inches) And the other is a short blade version of it(5 inch blade overall 9 inches)

I also take this short kabar with me when I go snorkeling or out on the water since the sheath and blade handle are made out of a plastic and won't rust.

Yep, without a substantial handguard, I don't think I'd be trying to punch through a car door.

For under $100, I think the Spyderco Manix 2 is a great value. It's a lot of blade with a robust build. Good ergos (for me anyway) and grippy jimping. It's also US made. I like the lock too.

I'am not really a knife guy, I only carry a No. 8 carbon steel Opinel and a Victorinox spartan with me. Acually 90% of the time I carry more razors in my backpack than knifes
