Please don't mention the "Douk Douk", my hands hurts just as I hear that name.
Should still have both a Douk Douk and an Opinel somewhere in my mess.

Hirlau, if you are interested in old fashioned building, you should have a look on this site.
The guys there build a castle the traditionnal way.
From the keenness of the blade or just because the thing is far from ergonomic ?Quote:

My Opinel # 8 came in the mail today. This is not a review, just a few notes on it. I will come back with a review in about 2 months after I have had a chance to use it.
The company was great to do business with, Opinel Knives SuperStore | 200 Knife Models | 26 Opinel Categories, fast courteous, great selection.
From the web photos I expected it to be bigger, bulkier & heavy; just the opposite though.
Lightweight, the lightest folder I have, simple in design, fits great in the hand; definitely a 2 handed opener for me, solid locking mechanism, yet simple.
The blade takes an edge fairly easy; Carborumdum # 118 (considered a fine grit stone in it's time)was used to put a bevel on it, finished with Welsh Slate Approx. 4k to 6k. I made the mistake of almost laying it down on the L-side with the first stroke(I had just finished up 2 razors) , a slight "hone trail" can be seen on the L-side, I raised it to the appropriate angle & finished it. This is an embarrassment to me. After learning razors , I am more critical of all my honing.
Thanks Giuseppe & 32t for the info provided.

Congrats Hirlau !
It's new so you'll probably not have any issues for now, but in a few years if it starts to be hard to open, a little trick : just knock the bottom of the handle (blade side) on a hard surface and it will open easily !
I'm totally jealous of your handle by the way, it looks much better than mine ! You had a better piece of wood from the boat than me ! ^^
Anyway, I hope you'll enjoy it for many years !
