EDC Knife

Has anyone tried to get a spark off the back of a stainless Opinel versus a carbon one? That would probably move my money to one over the other.

I understand what you mean ! Thank you for the link, that'd be a much better option than shipping from France, indeed.

The No8 is the most versatile, I use it a lot as a table knife, but the No7 or No6 could be a good option if you want to use it only as an EDC. (Or, you could also buy two ! I still have Opinel which belonged to my grandfather, so.. 11$ for a knife which will last a lifetime.. :p )

Giuseppe, this morning I ordered one like yours, from the same company that 32t linked to. It should be here by the end of the week. I talked with the owner, a Frenchman, who was very nice & helpful. We talked a while about the Revolution and La Fayette's Frigate Hermione. It was a good moment & I made a friend.

What was the black liquid that they were pouring in the cracks?
Why was the "rope" being tapped into the sides?

You will get one.

It's tar, used with the «ropes» to seal the hull of the ship (because they chose to rebuild it the same way it used to be done back in 1778.)
