Thanked: 20a guy could make quite a nice collection of these, svords, douk-douks (which Lee Valley has from time to time), Opniels. all good blades, and cheap enough to have a box full in case someone needs one.

Thanked: 234Big fan of Opinels. I have had an opinel on or close to my person for months now. I originally bought a normal one, but the slim is much better suited to every day carry stuff. Wicked sharp.
Douk-Douk's are finding curiously difficult to get hold of.
The Svords are fantastic. Seriously, buy one! My other pocket pal, I have one in my pocket as I type in fact.

A bit late as I've been away for about 6 to 12 months I think. But after having talked to my little brother recently about knives, of which he is very fond, I've been having the feeling that I "need" one as well.
And given the restrictions regarding knives here in Denmark and me wanting to not just have it in my home, friction knives seem like the choice for me as I'm not overly fond of the slip-joints I have seen thus far.
Sent an inquiry on the pricing on his vg10 and ats34 small versions as his site doesn't seem to have any numbers listed

Thanked: 234The smaller one looks like it's seeing some use, Jim, good stuff. I've had one on me for a couple of days now, really like them they make great every day knives. I would quite happily take one to formal occasions as a 'gentlemans knife' as well. Big one would be great at picnics and camping etc!
Chady, have a check out of Michael Morris friction folders. They are very nice. The tang is a bottle opener. Also, check out your local laws as I'm fairly certain 1 handed opening knives are not legal EDC knives. Might be worth considering.

Thanked: 235I just got one in the mail the other day. I love this knife already. It's not the original Higo knife, but the one with the picture of the samuri on the handle.
Small and simple, but it looks and feels great.

Thanked: 234Chady if you can find one, a spyderco DKPK would be pretty awesome to have.
They are neat little pocket knives. Take a cracking edge.

Thanked: 234Hi fella,
I did post a link to the original thread as my second post. Hope he didn't mind me cutting it for this, I did make it clear enough I hope that it wasn't my own work.
I recently got a traditional French and Northern African folding pocket knife, called a Douk-Douk. Quite similar in some ways to the higo, folded metal handle and a carbon steel blade, but it's a slip joint with the strongest spring I have ever come across and has a stunning blade profile. I like it a lot. Check them out guys, very inexpensive.
Cheers,
