Easy to keep sharp, strong & a good length, solid grip.
I learned about the RAT 7 about 5 years ago; I would take it too.
The khukri I have would be nice for a bush covered area, I guess; never really been in one of those either. I would probably wrap the handle though. I bought this one for $20.00 at a gun show about 4 years ago.

Nuttin wrong wit bein in da rear wit da gear.
EVERYBODY had a job to do.

I was an Ordy. Worked on the flight deck, but I slept dry most of the time.

That KA-Bar is tried and true design.
This one saw service in the Pacific in WWII with a SEABEE.
    PAL Cutlery RH-37

This new KA-BAR ( now discontinued ) is cross between a hatchet and knife. It's a handful.

Got to love the Ghurka's. Fightin's SOB's with big evil knives.
Brit "issue" Khukuri from the 60's still in cosmoline with the MOD (Ministry of Defense) acceptance mark (broad arrow/chicken track).

Mate, you can never watch too much Croc Dundee.

But you're right, that's how I found this one. I was trying to find a nice combat knife and saw the knife scene on tele and thought that looks good. Did a search, found this one and fell in love with it. And it's not a bad knife either. You can really lay into it. The bad points are it's not made in Oz and the factory grind's a bit iffy.

Yeah I did know that they weren't Aus made, most certainly an Aussie design though, I have that information around somewhere. Here we go...The original maker is John Bowring from New South Wales. No makers mark recorded. I have more info on the bloke, if you like I could just PM that to you. The knives have a through tang with a narrowed bit on the end to screw the brass pommel onto (obviously). It is most likely made of Aus 8 stainless.
There were six of these knives made for the movies, with four being 'safe' aluminium blades, but two were made the real deal. All these original knives have since been lost track of.

    Wullie,
That is a beautiful old Ka Bar. Did you or will you, do anything to the leather to keep it around another 70 years?
I have got to look for that discontinued Ka Bar now.
    Love the Khukri !!

    Hirlau,

Haven't done anything to the sheath. I doubt it has had anything done to it since WWII other than be kept in a dark and relatively dry environment. May put some LEXOL on it if looks likes it gettin dry.

You see those old PAL 37's on ebay every now and then. ALL of them rattle nowadays. The pommel on 'em gets loose as the leather washers in the handle dry and shrink. They're tough old knives.

If you look at the sheath on mine, you can see where the knife went through it. Uncle Homer kept that punk sharp. It's just like he left it. It'll pop hair off your arm with no problems. That Garand pic I posted was Homer's rifle too. He brought it home with him. Never been through an armory and is "as issued" for 1942. It's on standby for when the zombies attack.

    Wullie

Shes a beauty. Im glad your uncle was able to pass them down to someone who appreciates them.

Check out the bk11 it's a neck knife with a very similar blade profile, if I remember right. I suggest wrapping the grip in paracord it make it and the bk 14 much easier to use.
No that pistol isn't the only thing under my kilt, but I can tell you both of them work just fine

My Pocket Bushman came in today! Got it for $21 shipped from the bay. It effortlessly sliced through a two day old bagel today . I plan on abusing it for gits and shiggles this weekend and then finding my camera to take a couple photos of it. Nicest thing I've noticed, so far, is that the pocket clip is rather small. This, combined with the minimalist design and palm swells not only make it comfy in the pocket, but it looks like an ordinary little pocket knife until I whip it out.
