Thanked: 0Hello from Hampshire UK
Hi all just wanted to make myself known if that's ok with everyone. My name is James and I'm 33 from Winchester Hampshire. I have loved the thought of using a straight razor really since I was old enough to shave. Recently, I would say the past 2 months or so I have been using a shavette and before this used a Mekur slant bar de razor. However I just can't get away from wanting to use the real thing. I was a bit silly to begin with and rushed into buying a Gold Dollar sr and then looked about and saw the quality and realised the mistake I had made. So because of this I continued with the shavette. Well last night I bit the bullet and purchased a Dovo Black Star 5/8 from The Invisable Edge. I have read some great reviews on here about this companies service and look forward to receiving my purchase.
I'm also hoping to pick all the experienced guys brains on here. It really seems a great place to hang out.

Thanked: 0Hi Bombay
Yeah purchased 2inch hanging strop. Not to sure if I should go ahead and purchase any paste for it yet or to hold off?
What would you suggest? Oh and thanks for the welcome.

dont apply paste to your main strop, you can make a bench strop from balsa wood or use an old wine box if you have one. i think its probably best you wait for now though till you get used to what a shave ready razor actually feels like, it wont be as sharp as your shavette

Thanked: 0Hi David,
Thanks for the welcome and from what I've seen on Steve's website I'm sure I will. Only hope I'm up to keeping my end of the bargain and making good use of the Black Star.
