Thanked: 4249Looks like both razors have the England stamp wich means post 1891, furthermore the razors have the Ltd mark (limited) the earliest reference i found with the Ltd name or mark was in 1926, my best guess would be somewhere around that year.
Seems like both razors are dressed in celluloid scales and around 5/8 size, more then likely full hollow.

Thanked: 1587Yeah, I agree with Martin (welcome to the forum, by the way!).
Early 20th C. Scales are plastic/celluloid. The Imperials are not that uncommon, I have a couple for example, but you don't run across them every day. I've yet to see a Cadman Bengall from that era that are not basically full hollow. I'd guesstimate they are 5 or 6/8ths also.
You should post these in the Bengall Razor Club thread. There's a bit of information in there regarding Bengalls, though it is spread out throughout the pages. But it's a fun way to spend a few hours, if you have the time

Welcome GC
nice score with the Bengall set,
I have a Bengal in my collection it is a nice shaver.
I think you are on the right path here, I doubt you will find any more comprehensive information than here on SRP
best use the search function, for nearly every answer you want is somewhere on here already
if stuck as you have, post here & I am sure the unbelievable wealth of knowedge that reads & response to this forum will be able to help you out as you have seen already.
I would sugest a honing by one of the members there is a couple in Brissy area ( Jimbo & Mick I believe) & Oz in Sydney how may be able to help you out
Also have you tried the Straight shave barbers on the corner of Surfers Paradise Boulevard & Beach Rd 1 block south of Cavill ave if not it may be a good experience??
I only found them last weekend when I was there but it was closed on the Sunday so waiting till my next run down there for another look & possible shave by someone else.
Cheers
DSaved,
to shave another day.

Thanked: 983Welcome to the forum GC and well done on your small but important inheritance. I'm quite the jealous one, as my grandmother threw all her fathers and husbands cut-throat razors out in the belief that us kids would be much safer with them gone. She was a bit silly like that, although we kids did have a nasty habit of getting into tings we should have left well alone .
Geoff (Havachat45) is down in the south of Brissy and a bit closer to you. He does the honing for Shave Shack run by Sam and Alenka on the Gold Coast...Broadbeach area I think. Geoff is a top bloke (So's Sam from Shave Shack for that matter) and will no doubt, also be able to help and advise you if you ask.

G'day and welcome. Bengal are very good shaving razor. I've had a few over the years. I'm still lucky enough to have an 8/8. Bengal was by far the most popular razor in Australia. Not sure why but they seem to have had the Australian market sewn up.

Thanked: 9True, i was hoping gcstraightshave was hoping to offload the pair when i first saw this! Nice razors you have there, I would highly recommend getting at least one sent off for honing. If your not into straight shaving at least you can say "x" amount of generations of your family have shaved with this blade to your sons/grandsons! Good to see another Aussie here to
