Default Hello from Tugun, Gold Coast, Australia.

    Hi there,

I've recently been fortunate enough to find my Grandfather's Bengall Imperial razors. I'm very new to the world of straight razors and am keen to find out what exactly it is I've inherited. If anyone can help you have my sincerest thanks.

Hi and welcome. Those look like nice razors. A clean and hone and they should be good shavers. Bengall is a good brand and their razors shave well. Appraisals or valuation aren't allow on site but if you check ebay it will give you an idea. Check the old listings as these are what the razor sold for.

Thanks for the response. I'm very much not after an appraisal, the last thing I want to do is sell them. I was after a description along the lines of blade size, type and a near to date of manufacture. If this is the wrong place to be asking I apologise, again the last thing on my mind is sale.

Ah well I can help with some of that. Look like 6/8or 5/8 razors. One is round tip the other is French I think. Both show wear to the toe. If you check the razor data base you could possibly find some info. Also a post in the razors thread might bring up some results.

Thanks Eddy! That's exactly what I'm after. I don't want my lack of understanding to result in these getting damaged.

I've looked through these but haven't found a match. The engraving in the blade seems a relatively unique element compared to what I can find online. I'll keep digging.

You could try pm'ing martin103, he is quite encyclopedic in his knowledge, and I am sure he would be glad to share.
