    Welcome to SRP.

I would go so far as to suggest that your best odds of obtaining a good quality, reasonably priced shave ready razor is to purchase thru a forum member.

Hi and welcome. I have only bought secondhand razors, the ones not from eBay were mostly good. But if you prefer new then go that way, I don't think you will find a convincing argument for or against either route, just ensure that you buy something of reputable quality if you are going the new route. With vintage razors there are a lot of "no name" examples that are very good shavers.

    Hi Svengali,

I am also new to the forum and from Ottawa.

Saw that add also and found that this is somewhat expensive for a used Dovo.

Strops can be pricy, but there are alternatives.

I went at a local leather shop, on Heron Rd, off Bank Street and purchased a scrap piece of leather for 13$. They were helpful and cut a couple of straight pieces for me and I'll be gluing them on a paddle. Nothing like a paddle to learn stropping they say.

Many DIY posts on the forum/web and clips on youtube.

    Hope this helps
