Hi and welcome, it's probably a good thing that you got the soap and brush out now, it will take a few goes to get lathering right, so if you have that under control before you start using your straight it is one less variable to consider.
Bread and water can so easily become tea and toast

I bought the razor in a shop and they honed it for me.
Sometimes I feel normal.
Then it's time to lay down and wait for it to pass.
