Thanked: 0Hi from Saskatoon, SK
After looking on these forums and various websites off and on for a few months, I received a straight razor set for Christmas from my parents. Yay! I had been looking on Straight Razor Designs and was hoping to get something from there, but there's always the future for that. I got a nice set including a Thiers-Issard 6/8" with black scales, some Col. Conk soap, brush, strop, and case.
At the moment I am struggling with keeping my beard because it's freezing up here, and buzzing it off so I can learn to use the new razor. I also want to wait at least as long as it takes me to get some oil to protect the blade, and a styptic pencil if I can find one. Also wouldn't mind seeing if I can come across a brush stand. I have some more perusing to do on here to make sure I know what I'm doing when I start shaving, but I already know there's plenty to answer any questions I have.
Anywho, a quick note to say hi and I look forward to learning more and trying something new!
Ryan

Welcome to the forum. I wouldn't worry about oil for the blade with our prairie climate, and you should be able to find a styptic at Rexall or Shoppers.
Which model did you get?Jon
