Welcome to the 'Place' & yes it's a strop dressing. You probably won't need it for a very long time unless your strop is constantly in direct sunlight &/or A/C.

Yes, Brisbane and surrounds seems to be a hotbed for straight razor users. Probably because of all those degenerate biker-types eating pizzas together and making their nefarious plans about which half to put the anchovies on at pubs I think.

Do check out the Australian section of the forums. There's a Brisbane meeting scheduled for early March I think, and it could be an excellent way to fast track your learning by getting some face to face help from more experienced users. But avoid that Havachat fellow - he's a biker.

Haha Thanks Plenty lads I'll be keeping a look out for fellow users in brisbane. Unfortunately I will be leaving for Japan in late feb and living in Tokyo for a year so I won't be able to attend the meet. Regardless I'll keep an eye out for the Australians and Brisbane people on the forums!
