Welcome to SRP Sam. There are plenty of people here that can answer all your questions. Good luck with progress - you should have a nice shave ready blade coming your way from Larry. Living in London gives you access to all kinds of shave goodies - I'm jealous!

Thanked: 0My razor arrived over the weekend. The razor is a W.Bingham Co. Marked as 'Blue steel'. The blade was shave ready and it's condition was as advertised. First shave went well without any nicks or razor burn but not as close results as I was getting with my shavette.
Tonight I have spent the evening polishing the razor removing as much as the marks as I could. I also decided to try refresh it with the pastes provided. Stopped it up and shaved. One of my closest so far without any irritation.
Overall I'm extremely happy with my purchase. For anyone looking to get their first straight and cannot decide what to purchase I would highly recommend Larry's slight unseen from whipped dog. He was very helpful with any questions I had.
One question if anyone could advise. How often should I oil my strop to keep it in good nick?
Best regards,
Sam.

Your strop will do just fine if you warm it up with the palm of your hand by rubbing it. Do this before every stropping, and you will find that the natural oils of your hand will treat the strop nicely. Personally, I wouldn't do anything but this to condition your strop. Good luck!
