You hit the nail on the head! You need to learn to crawl, then toddle, then walk and finally learn to run!

This age old art has a huge learning curve and it takes awhile to learn it!

If you stop and think about it in the days gone by when a son would reach the age to need to shave a father would teach his son Everthing! From prep to stropping to honing! Now we are learning from scratch with the counsel of others.

You've come to the right place to learn! I do hope you will enjoy this long strange trip as it's well worth the journey!

My thoughts exactly. My father didnt use a st8 he had a DE then used disposables from what i remember but passed before i could learn anything back in the late 80's. So with out the internet i would of never knew about how to use a brush and cream. and how to properly make a good lather. So am i making the right decision in getting a starter from whipped dog? or save the expense and just get something little nicer in the $90-$150 range.?

As far as Whipped Dog goes, he will get you started down the road!

Look at it this way; would you want to send your son out for his first time behind the wheel of a brand new Cadillac or an older used car? It's kinda the same thing!

You can always upgrade EVERYTHING! Once you get going, you can expand and find some nice beginner's razors here at SRP in the classified. I highly discourage you from seeking razors on FleaBay until you start to know what to look for!!

Hang in there! Enjoy the Ride!

Welcome to SRP! Keep an eye out for local get-togethers. That's the fastest way to learn various aspects of this sport. Good luck!
