Hi Mark,
Welcome to SRP!
You'll enjoy your Ralph Aust from SRD. Anything that passes through Lynn's hands is going to be good.

Thanked: 0The Aust razor seemed much more efficient, I was able to remove more whisker but not the BBS im use to.
I have been shaving my entire face wtg and then across the grain and a final clean up with my DE razor.
Im almost certain its just going to take some time to get this down which takes some time.

Thanked: 0Cool deal, glad to hear.
I'm trying to do my daily shave with it to start followed by my DE for final pass, sound like a good game plan?
I'm trying 25 degrees WTG and about 20 degrees XTG
In your opinion are my DE shaving soaps okay for straight shaves? maybe a little thicker/ heavier?
I use 3p or oil for my prep normally.
Thanks Wade!

I use my own soap, any soap should do. I never paid attention to degrees after first shave or two. The sharper the razor the flatter you can shave with it. The flatter you shave the less you'll irritate all. But eventually you'll learn to use all sorts of angles-as in, you'll hit nearly 90 getting under your nose, but also you'll do this with absolute minimum pressure, which is most important. Only enough pressure for the edge to bite into the hairs. feel that.
Yes, I used DE for final pass/clean up for a few months of the transition. A great milestone is getting beyond this need.
I was dating at the time and often killed my neck trying to get it perfect. Don't. Gals are more interested in cheeks and lips, and keeping your ears/nose plucked. yo.Last edited by WadePatton; 03-31-2014 at 06:14 PM.
