Thanked: 4827Many of us share some of those things. Once we were lurker, then joined and asked questions and after a while answered a few too. Many of us also have the need to shave. Some start their day that way others finish it with a shave. It's all about having fun shaving and AD.

Thanked: 0Hi guys !
Sorry for the late reply and thanks for the warm acceuil
My question's somewhat peculiar I must admit...
One morning, while I was shaving, my nephew (who was 1 and a half year young at the time) decided, while he was in his father's arm, to stop breathing.
Panicked, my brother-in-law called me. I went downstairs and I unintentionally let my Dovo Classic in a thin puddle of water in the sink...
When I got back in the bathroom, some 20/25 minutes afterwards, my beloved razor was sunken in orange water...
AAARRRRGHHH !! I shouted. The blade was partially covered with black spots, but the orange rust, I suppose, didn't have the time to cling on the blade.
After some careful toothpaste rubbing and stropping, only a few tiny and lightly colored spots remain.
The blade, though, is completely dull. It passes the hanging hair test rather well, but it won't cut any hair once passed onto my face.
My question obviously is : should I send it to a pro for a little honing ?
As I'm only 18, and my beard's very light, I've never used stropping paste.
I've been shaving using a straight for about 14 months now, and my blade has always been very sharp, hence the lack of pasting.
What do you think ? Should I buy a new strop and paste or should I hone it ?
About me :
I'm currently studying classical music composition and computer sciences.
I've accumulated about 14/15 soaps and creams over the last year, so it'll be quite hard to design a favorite but ADP and Barrister and mann's soaps certainly rank quite high for me.
A splash of Speick or ADP, a dose of Colonia or Eau sauvage and I'm ready to go !Last edited by DonVito11; 07-05-2014 at 03:46 PM.

Knowing where you are would be a big help in answering your questions. There may be someone local to you that could mentor you with honing your own razor. Have you tried any polishes like Mothers to bring the shine back?

guitstik makes a good point. Mentors and helpful members abound in almost all corners of the earth. Specify your location and help will be found. Pro honers and advanced shavers will all be skilled to the level you need.
But more importantly, how is your nephew and what was the problem?"The sharpening stones from time to time provide officers with gasoline."

Thanked: 0Thanks for your help !
My nephew's fine, thanks whoever might be responsible for it.
It's a thing he does when he's angry, a very scary one.
When you don't give him what he wants, he stops breathing and he becomes all blue.
One of my acquaintances, a pediatrician, told me that, even though it's very impressive, It can't really harm babies.
Even if they pass out doing so.
Obviously I didn't know that at the time, so I just took a glass of cold water and splashed it on his face, forcing him to breath.
Then, I had to lay down for a while...

DonVito11, I liked your solution to the problem. Children can, as much as you love them, can really set the day on edge. Those little people are full of tricks and games that sometimes take us adults a rude awakening to understand. Hopefully he will get tired of passing out (which automatically makes him start breathing again) and find less dramatic ways to get what he wants - like saying please for starters.
