Thanked: 1hello from the hampton roads va
hello all, and thank you for this amazing site. i spent a long time just reading posts and trying to learn as much as possible, i was finally enticed out of the shadows by nessmuck's contest post offering a straight to the newb with the best story. i am a 28 y/o in the us coast guard. i have been wanting to get into straights for a long time, so one day my g/f surprised me with a shavette and the van haagen soap/mug/brush kit. saying i was nervous that first night is an understatement, i wish i would have found this site before i started, i walked outta my bathroom 45 mins later looking like i got into a fight with a weedwhacker, and lost. I am looking to buy the buffalo horn shave set from SRD this month so that i can fully get into a straight without kiling my wallet when i know that i will prob kill both blade and strop as i learn. thank you in advance for all of the help i will be asking all of you for, and once again for the wonderful site and all of the information

Welcome to the 'Place'.
A little prior research & practice can move you away from the belief in wrecking your strop ,blade & /or face.

Oz gives good advise! Read and ask!

Hello, buckeye, and welcome to Straight Razor Place. Be careful purchasing your first traditional straight razor. Make sure it is a quality brand and that it is shave ready. I don't see a brand on the straight razor you note. Also, I have never seen a new straight razor with scales made of buffalo horn for that low price. I suggest further research before you buy your first straight razor.

Hi and welcome. I think you will find that the razor you are looking at is the one that pops up regularly with people having problems due to its poor quality. I would go with another supplier or do a search on anything your looking at as most time information can be found here. Good luck
My wife calls me......... Can you just use Ed
