Joining the party
Hey all
My name is Phil and I've been wet shaving for years, DE shaving for months and...haven't got a straight yet! [emoji51]
I'm about to jump in but have been doing a bit of research first. I think I'll buy a couple of vintage razors and a cheap strop, and go from there. (I'll need to get the razors honed so I need to post a bit before I'll be allowed into the classifieds... Perhaps I can post a few more times and then I'll qualify for the newbie's monthly prize?)
I live Down Under (Sydney) where we have this tax imposed by the rest of the world (it's called "Postage"). I'm sure the fellow Aussies know it only too well. Perhaps I could move... Nah! Who am I tying to kid!?! We live in the best country already. [emoji13]
Anywho. I'm going to keep travelling through this wonderful forum and learn more about this excellent art form.
Thanks for letting me join you! [emoji4]

Welcome. There are lots of folks from your part of the Pacific on here and I'm sure one will be able to help you out. In the meantime peruse away and ask all the questions you want. One of the best uses of time is to start in the welcome center, work straight through all the material for beginners and the videos that are linked there. I started a little over a year ago and found it a great help, which I still refer back to. Beginner's guide to straight razor shaving - Straight Razor Place Library

Welcome!
Give my mate Oz a PM. He's a great guy. You will find him here:

Start reading the very helpful information at the above recommended link in the previous post. With that said you can learn more in a few short hours of hands on help than you will by reading and watching videos for months. I hope you'll be able to meet up with Oz and or some of the other members down your way.
Again, Welcome to an older but better way of shaving. It's a long strange trip but well worth the journey. Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdin’s cave of 'stuff'.
