In that case take up the free brush offer, by a quality strop that has replaceable leather and choose a razor that you like, i am not sure if I said it here, but the classifieds are a good. Place to start looking if you want vintage steel, just review the listing and ensure it is shave ready.
Richard, you haven't made me an anything, but seeing as my views on the church are what they are it may be a good thing, I could well end up excommunicatedBread and water can so easily become tea and toast

Thanked: 3Been looking on the classified here for the past two days. Will probably make a decision come tomorrow or Monday on which one to start with. I have a good feeling that once I buy one I'll end up buying a lot more .

Ah, my son, the Church of the Steel Blade accepts all apostates. Excommunication will automatically occur should you abandon SR's, DE's or SE's and return to your sinful ways of cartridge scraping.
As to two part epoxy, you would do better to find a two part epoxy in dispensing tubes with a mixing nozzle you can attach. Sets in five minute, so work fast. But it should sit for at least 24 hours to cure the best."The sharpening stones from time to time provide officers with gasoline."

Thanked: 19Good info, JReed. Do you recall about what they charge for that? I buy Proraso or Omega from Amazon and usually pay around $10-12.

Many use it and it works quite well, something to throw in to experiment with. I don't prefer to use it but it was fun to try.
In terms of your first purchase, in my opinion, try to stay in the rang of a 1/2 hollow, for your first blade stay right in the middle, then when you get about 20 straight shaves in, you can start to explore whether you prefer a wedge grind or a hollow grind....I prefer a hollow grind, but as with soaps, it's nice to have options to change things up.
Let us know what straight you decide to go with......

Thanked: 4826I think Noxema cream is used as a pre shave by some. I will try it eventually. I bought a lot of stuff a few years ago and I am trying to get through the cases of stuff before I try anything new. My current rule is a cannot buy a new soap cream etc until I finish one off. I am half way through my last jar of Proraso pre shave so I will be trying Noxema cream as a pre shave in about a month.
