Thanked: 0Hello SRP
Hello,
I just registered this morning and am exited to be a part of an awesome forum. I'm still fairly new to forums and don't know what to say other than I'm in San Diego, California and have been wet shaving for about 5 years now and have always wanted to use a straight but haven't got around to it because of the convenience DE shaving offers.

Welcome to SRP Alberto! You have found an excellent place to find all the info you need/want to dive into straight shaving should you decide to do so. Ask loads of questions, read loads of threads, and check out the Library (aka the wiki) for helpful articles.
And enjoy!
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

Welcome to SRP! I know there are at least a few folks down in southern California so it shouldn't be to hard to meet up with some one. Nothing wrong with DEs, and they allow you to practice your lathering just as well.
Let us know how it goes. The older I get the more I realize how little I actually know.

Thanked: 0Not at all, I love my Merkur Futur paired with Feather blades. In addition to that I also have a very old brand new straight from Solingen Germany that I've never used and a brand new "broken" Dovo that I purchased from a So Cal Shaving Supply store. I was planning on starting to practice with my Dovo this weekend, but it has been nothing but trouble since it arrived; it was supposed to be shave ready, but the best it could do was scrape away at my skin and when I finally gave up on it and decided to apply a coat of oil on it for storage one of the scales literally crumbled around the rivet. I'm currently waiting to hear from the owner to see what if anything he is willing to do to make things right. I really had my heart set on a Hart Steel razor but decided to go with a Dovo simply because it was a 1/3 of the price and from a beginner standpoint it just made sense. Unfortunately I got what I paid for!
