Welcome,
it sounds like you have all the necessaries for a good start, with regards to razor dings a lot of guys will just wipe their razors off on a damp sponge or similar, i just wipe mine on my forearm then a wide off on my towel at the end, they never go near water other than if it is on my face, it does mean that my razors are not Shiney etc but that doesn't bother me.
I strongly suggest reading this month's beginners tips (look on the main page) good sound advice regarding equipment selection etc.
Though I am sure solitary soldier will keep you on track, feel free to ask questions as and when they come up but also bear in mind that in the beginners section you will find a lot of repeat advice answering the most common questions.
