I have yet to take on a restore but I hope to some day. Someone else may speak to it but the really MAIN BIG HUGE THING here is the razor has to be SHARP....SHAVE READY SHARP! That is so important for you to have a positive experience!!! It is going to be a steep learning curve with a shave ready razor....and remember to check with your friends here on what you buy that is shave ready.....every razor on the internet totes itself as shave ready.
