Thanked: 0Ahoy hoy
Hello everyone. I'm new to the forum. Good to be here. I stumbled upon this site while looking for info about straight razors. After a lot of reading, I decided to start out with a safety razor. Santa knew I wanted one, so he brought me an Edwin Jagger DE86 last Christmas. I also just bought a vintage Shumate straight razor on eBay. I'll post more about that when it arrives. It'll be a while before I shave with that and it'll probably be more of a weekend razor. I also have a cheap badger brush and an Omega boar brush. I always thought I was a wet shaver before with my disposable twin blade and a can of Barbasol. I thought a cartridge razor and a safety razor were the same thing and I had no idea that shave brushes and shave soap even existed. It's still a work in progress, but I think I'm improving everyday. Still nicking myself a bit, but nothing too bad. I really like how I can shave everyday now if I want. That was never an option before because it was just too irritating. Anyway, great to be here and I'm excited to learn all I can about wet shaving.

Thanked: 3795DE razors are a great way to begin the transition. Not everyone wants to bother with a straight but a DE will work for anyone who wants something better and cheaper than modern crap cartridges.

Hi & welcome to SRP! Shumate's are some good American made straight razor's. There's plenty to learn here. I hope you have a strop & have learned or been learning to use it. You also need shaving soap, a brush & a mug or dish. If you have any questions, just ask & someone WILL reply, possibly many.
Good luck!Last edited by engine46; 01-29-2015 at 09:24 PM.
