I bought my razor and strop from Straight Razor Designs, and I was looking and studying for about a month before I took the plunge.

I bought a 5/8 Dovo Best Quality, and the Modular Paddle strop as well. Thinking if I do cut the strop I can always get a replacement pad once I get it down, and it should be more than enough to grow into, and it cuts the variables down while learning to strop.

Now my biggest battle is the learning curve, but only time and patience will get me past that.

If you accidentally cut your strop, before buying a replacement leather, you can sand it down for now or glue it back down with rubber cement. Some people use super glue which is fine but I like rubber cement since it is rubbery & not hard. Then once you are comfortable with your stropping, you can buy a replacement leather.
Congrats on buying your Dovo & strop from SRD. Your new razor was honed by Lynn before you got it so that it would be shave ready. You also get a free honing later down the line for when it needs it again. You made a good choice!

Thanks, the free honing later was one of the major reasons why I bought from SRD, that way I can wait to buy stones later and don't have to worry about it.

Really? where about is the meet up and how often?

Look under get togethers and meetings its in triangle Raliegh Durham....... I thinks it about every six weeks or so
