Welcome to the most friendly, helpful and informative site on the web!!

You will find members here of all different backgrounds, ages and occupations from all corners of the world and all with a quest for more knowledge about using and maintaining a straight razor!

For the last few years there has been Meet in Denver. (a Meet is when those who are interested in using straight razors come together and share information) If at all possible make the next Denver meet as you will learn more in a few hours than you can reading and watching videos for months! I speak from experience.

Please get in touch with Glen (GSSIXGUN) as he has made it to those meets and has graciously given wonderful demonstrations on hone, restoration etc!

    You can PM him here:

This age old art has a huge learning curve, but once semi mastered is well worth the journey!

Welcome Kurtesio! I'm also a noob. Been at the straight about 3 weeks now. Things are getting better for sure. I'm also here in The Springs right downtown. If you ever want to meet up somewhere let me know.

Welcome to SRP kurtesio. I have a Shapleigh Hardware Diamond Edge & it's a good razor. Get yourself a camera with a macro setting on it. That is how to take good closeups. We'd love to see your pics. You can look some razors up in the database here:

Category:Straight Razor Database - Straight Razor Place Library

Here's a Shapleigh Hardware Diamond Edge:

Shapleigh Hardware Co. "Diamond Edge" 9/16 - Straight Razor Place Library

I don't know about the George H Meyer. You can also do an advanced search in the top right of the page in the main page or the forum. What you don't find, just ask & someone will answer you. Good luck my friend!

Thank You for the link to the database.
I have a lens coming for the Cell phone that supposedly takes Macro shots and will post a selection of the blades that I have been unable to find much or any info on.
I don't have a use for a camera otherwise so cell will have to do..I may borrow one..
The Shapleigh is a different shape than I am used to seeing...looks like a frameback but is one piece.. I have seen a couple of pics here and there on the web but no description of the blade in question..(I know, pics would help).
I just score an I-XL frameback in quite good condition for $15 from ebay and will be asking Qs on cleaning/dissembly in the future (blade removable?)
I have collected 80 blades so far in my quest to find "THE ONE" for me and have managed to acquire many of the shapes, sizes and will clean up and resell some to help pay for this addiction..
Did't Plan On Being A Colloector!!
Thanks for the help and info.

I don't get out much so will do most of my meeting here in the forum for now but I am looking forward to a general "Meet", meet up, swap meet , or whatever they are called in the razor world and hoping that there are enough of us in the Pikes Peak region to pull off a nice one down here... soon
I will be getting in touch with a member in Denver and see what the Meet situation is up there... still learning this web site and I bet there is a listing here for the next Meet
This seems to be an amazing hobby with a lot of history behind it and I am looking forward to being apart

No worries on the meet. I know that Denver is having a Mile High Meetup sometime in July (I think). I'm going to try to make that. There is a thread on that in the forums here.
