Thanked: 0Colorado new guy saying hi
Hello all,
New to the straight world and have been buying up the e bay finding different sizes and shapes to try.
Kept coming back here to see what the community thought of various blades and finally joined.
I have the tooling to fix ugly blades and don't care what the neighbors think about some pitting or stains after cleaning,
as long as they shave. Besides, putting on new scales isn't hard and can breathe new life into an otherwise lost soul.
So much history in these.
THANK YOU to all that have contributed info on these timeless classics.
I have many questions ahead on shapes and makers that I haven't been able to find info on and will add pictures when I get a camera that takes good closeups.
A couple that come to mind...
Shapleigh Hardware co. St Lois "Diamond Edge" in the groove and "DE" on the blade with #17 on the tang.. very unusual blade shape...kind of like a frameback but not..
George H Meyer. Kansas City "Semi-Wedge" ... Bellied hollow?
Thanks again for the GREAT SITE and info.

Welcome to SRP. Lived a school year in CS back in the 1950's. Loved the no humidity winter that year. Learned to drive in the Garden of the Gods.

Thanked: 0Weather is still awesome here. The Garden of the gods is in eyesight from my back door. I spent a good chunk of my childhood playing among and on those beautiful rocks, also got married there. The road, trails and trading post in the Garden have changed a lot in the 42 years that I have been here(for the better) so I imagine that you would only recognize the formations now.
And there are just a few more people here now....
