    Hi guys,

My name is Bryan, and I'm born and raised in Oklahoma. I'm 24 and recieved my first straight razor today from the man him self, Lynn Abrams, ordered it from Straight Razor Designs along with their Premium I strop. I actually didn't shave for a couple days in anticipation of the shave. When I got home today I did what you guys don't recommend and shaved my whole face. Took me a while but came out very smooth faced and with no cuts at all (pretty proud of that too!!). Anyways the razor I'm workin with is the Dovo Best Quality 5/8 hollow grind round tip. Loved it but it is definitely different to shave with a razor than a cartridge type. The feeling of it actually working is really cool. So that's my newb story.

Welcome and congratulations on you decision to use a SR., your choice in purchasing one from SRD and your success. Slow is good until you develop good muscle memory. Concentrate on stropping correctly and taking your time with your prep and lather, and you will have many more great shaves!

Congratulations on your first shave and progress!

Here is a link that will help you find other SRP members in your area, just insert your location and hit search now. Note that the user name listing in red is a mentor, if you should need any personal help.

Here is a link to the SRP Library. This will help you with pretty much anything relating to shaving with a straight razor.

Welcome to the world of straight razor shaving!

Welcome to the SRP Forum and Family.

We have some great Mentors in OK - and I suspect they will be chiming in shortly.
A few hours with one of the Mentors will save you months of time in the learning process.

It's much easier to learn how to use a Straight when your razor is always in top form.
But when you have to learn everything from scratch, keeping your edge perfect is hard to do.
One of the skills that a Mentor can help you with in short order is stropping and edge care.
