Thanked: 135Hello from Sacramento, California
My name is Paul Buchanan and I'm really, really enjoying shaving with a straight razor. Started in November last year with both feet in and never looked back. Singing to the choir here but, frigging luxury!
My favorite razor is a Solingen blade (Pearl King, International Cutlery Co.) that my father gave me along with a couple other vintage blades (F.W. Engels Leader, a Sheffield silver steel). Also bought a Boker Silver Steel. The Pearl King I've maintained myself and have finally got it dialed in.
I'm an every other day shaver (love the feel of stubble followed by smooth).
Favorite puck: MWF
Favorite cream: Taylor of Old Bond Street Sandalwood
Two brushes: Edwin Jagger Best Badger, Thater 3-band
Two strops: An Illinois that I literally butchered out of the box and a SRD Latigo that is thankfully slash free.
Arkansas stones; I'm a rock geek, love them.
Anyway, that's my introduction and if I'm ever jonesin to share my last amazing shave with someone I can post!
Thanks for reading and being such an amazing resource.
Paul

Thanked: 135Thanks for the welcome gents. Nice to see some of us Californians representing the north! I grew up in south sac and am now living in Rancho Cordova (basically sac with a few front teeth missing). San Juan?!? Christian Brothers here, '80. Go Falcons!
Pixelfixed, we are in trouble. I work for the US Geological Survey as a hydro tech (water resources) so my job is to get out there and get the data. Its bad (I wince when watching some of the shaving videos, send that running water to us!).
I'll get my crappy point and shoot and see if I can get some decent pics up (daunting when you see the works of art they post in the Shave of the Day forum).
