Hi guy's
I meant to get back sooner but I've had such a busy summer I haven't had much time for anything much, slowing down now though. The str8 razors have been going well since getting back into them recently, thanks to a rotation of four of them honed up good ( not honed by me ) so they should keep me set for a while. One thing I'd like to add is although I hadn't forgotten but I'm refreshed in what an un-surpassed shave a good sharp str8 razor can give ! I did pick up a new Naniwa 12000 hone, I like it much better than the Norton and Arkansas I used in the past to keep the edges re-furbished, so, smooth running so far.

Nice to see that you didn't just drop off the face of the earth. Did you find anyone local to you that can mentor you one-on-one? There should be plenty of folks in your neck of the woods lurking behind trees with pockets full of SR's and a rucksack full of stones, strops and shaving accouterments. Good luck and keep striving.

I haven't found anybody close by yet, but one thing that has given me trouble in the past is you can only refresh and refurbish a blade so long, I've done a lot of research on here about setting bevel setting. I picked up a Naniwa 1000 and have a number of practice blades to mess around with, it seems that has been the missing link with my honing in the past, I should be able to move into the ball park with time and practice. I've got a lot of time now to tinker with this stuff. Thanks for the replies everybody.
