    Hi WindsorRaz,

Welcome to the wonderful world of straight razors. I'm in the Quad Cities and have been straight razor shaving for 5 years now. I've been honing for about 4 + years. I'm no expert, but do pretty well and have honed many vintage razors into my daily rotation. Be glad to meet with you sometime if you send me a PM. Be glad show you what I've learned anyway.

Thanks for the great honing session last evening Lou. So glad to have met you here on SRP! I learned a lot from you and hope I can apply it to my feeble attempts at honing.

    Nobody can run at birth.
    We rock,crawl,todder,walk, then we run.
    Its the notorious learning curve.
Sounds like your on your feet at a steady pace.
I suppose Lou mentioed a finish stone and the use of chromium oxide on the fabric side of a strop.

    Sincerely
    Mike

    WindsorRaz,

It was my pleasure to share with you what others have shown me. You are off to a good start. I confident that your honing will go fine as you learn and progress. It was fun to talk and share wet shaving experiences and equipment. Nice to meet you and I hope we can get together again soon.

Thanks for the encouragement Mike! Honing sure LOOKS easy enough Lou was a great deal of help. I have CrOx but Lou convinced me that I need a 12k to finish with. I think I'll try a Naniwa Super Stone.

Excellent choice. Can't go wrong with the nanni. Since i bought my set 1,5,8,12 & a 400 for fast removal of chips. I found better shaves
