From the Urban Dictionary: A term used to discribe one who is more intelligent than a person from Missouri, more down to earth than a person from Illinois, and who lacks the lame quality typical of those native to Minnesota and Nebraska.

Within Iowa, Iowegian implies some sort of interbreeding with Scandihoovians, consistent with the very real melting pot if immigration that Iowa is known for. The result is a mongrel human being with a limited right to claim direct Nordic ancestry. We are smart enough to move to where the farmland is the best on the planet and left our nordic accents behind.

This of course, leans hard in the direction of Iowa vs. any neighboring state jokes, a fine tradition all of itself.

The motto on the license plates from Iowa should read: More Pigs Than People. (Think about it...)

Thanks to all of you for your input and the warm welcome. Do you guys think it is worth the extra investment to get stainless instead of carbon?

no, actually I prefer carbon steel, and if cared for (dried well) it lasts forever. Interestingly, if not cared for the same, stainless stains and can rust. It really is just preference and availability in a style that you like.

Good. In that case this time I would have more company at the microscope!

Do you still want me to send you a 6/8 and 7/8 razor? I forgot about it till seeing your post here. Send me a PM with any particular ideas about what you'd like to try.

    Mongrel?

Sure, but I always considered both to be Nordic. As you pointed out, the Iowegians were "smart enough" to move to better farmland. Scandahoovians, on the other hand, chose to stay in Minnesota where the digs were more similar to home. Why move to better land when there is a much greater challenge in the hilly and cold Minnesota? After all, we Scandahoovians are the ones that hear on the radio that there are 50 mile per hour blizzard winds with 12-18 inches of snow in the next 12 hours despite -40 degree weather and we think to ourselves, "this might be a good day to visit the in-laws in the next county."

And every Iowegian is thinking, "Mmmm, bacon!"
