Thanked: 26Hello, I'm Erik from Ohio.
Hello, fellow straight razor lovers.
I just joined this site and wanted to reach out to fellow straight users. I have been using a straight for about ten years. I am in the early stages of Honeing my own blades. Got tired of having someone doing what I should be dong. It has been a learning curve let me tell you.
I started honing my own straights about two months ago and have been getting a less then happy blade. It keeps getting better but just not right. I have been looking for anyone in the Akron, Ohio area who is a mentor or could give a hand in helping to get my honing skills to a higher level.

Hi Erick.
Im no mentor. But I do hone and restore my own.
And in the Akron area, Spingfield Twsp. I would be more than happy to help in any way, being there are so few of us in the state. But your like the third to join in this week alone, so were growing. I'll send you a PM with my # so you can contact me.
Sincerely
Mike
PS. Imperial shave isn't to far from us either, Don is the owner, and him and Lynn Abrams created this forum together.Mike

Hi Eric & welcome aboard. I was going to mention outback to ya but I see he was fast on the draw here! Good going Mike. As far as your honing skills, you might get together with Mike since you guys aren't too far apart. Also have yu seen Lynn's Youtube video's yet? Here are a couple of links just in case you haven't seen them yet. One is Lynn's & the other is a member here, gssixgun:

On the second link just go to the bottom & click "load more".
Great to have you here. Any questions, just ask.
Good luck my friend.
