When a beginner puts that blade to his face for the first time, there are only two issues at play--the shaver and the blade. A beginning shaver has no clue how to use his new razor. Only practice will fix that. For the blade, it's a matter of both the condition/quality of the blade AND the competency of the honer. Since you are new to this, odds are good that you have no basis to assess the actual shave readiness of that blade or the competency of the honer.

For that reason, I would like to ask you the source of your razor. What is the specific razor that your bought and from whom did you buy it? It may give us a sense of the likelihood of your razor actually being shave ready.
