Thanked: 3Thanks for the recommendation, I have been thinking about sending out one or two of my W&Bs for pro honing. Probably my wedge, as I haven't been able to get it quite sharp enough for a smooth ATG pass yet. I have been learning what to look for on the ebay blades lol, one in particular had a frown that was much worse than the pics indicated . I always had a desire to learn straight razor shaving and have always had a knack for resto work, so that's why I started there. I just love giving new functional life to things that would otherwise be forgotten.
I am planning on going to the meet up in September, hoping to learn as much as I can there.

Welcome to SRP!!
Another PacNW Member here from Yakima... I started out lurking then bought and rescued a W&B, "honed" it on my Sharpmaker, confirmed I did not have the skills or gear required after a shave that left me feeling wind-burned just from walking across a room... Then, spent a bunch of time and fair bit of money figuring it out. Definitely have someone hone for you that knows what they are doing... Gives you a benchmark for comparison that is incredibly valuable!!
Meets are everything people say and more... Kinda like taking the top of your had off and dumping Shaving Knowledge in, really. You do not want to miss Seattle ShaveCon this year in September!!

Thanked: 3I definitely spent a fair bit of money on stones haha, I knew the stone I had bought at Walmart 15 years ago would not suffice lol. I can't wait for the meet in September but for now I am managing with the 1, 4, 8, and 12k stones I have and get pretty good shaves but I know they could be better. A little bit of tugging on the ATG pass is all I get ATM. Still getting weepers now and then but no major cuts (fingers crossed lol) although I need a better soap, the VDH with creamo "über lather" it's not bad but certainly isn't great.
