Thanked: 3Hello from from Northwest Washington!
Good evening gentlemen, I have recently gotten into the fine art of straight razor shaving after a short stint with DE razors and have, as I usually do, gone all out so to speak haha. After rescuing a couple ebay special Wade & Butchers and a John Heiffor from an antique store (darn proud of that $10 find lol) I am comfortable in saying I'm a bit addicted now... Any and all advice is more than welcome! So is there anyone else in Northwest Washington, Whidbey Island area out here? Anyone who decided to jump into this art with a project razor like I did haha?

Hi and welcome. Best advice is check out the library and beginners section for all the basics and th2ask any questions. Start with a pro honed blade and start slow with just the cheeks adding areas as you get better. Once you can shave decently and are capable of accessing edges then look at refreshing your own edges and then honing from there.
Always ask if unsure we will always try and help be it techniques or supplies there is a lot of knowledge hete in the members and they ate a helpful lot.
Have fun trying to avoid the various addictions and have fun shavingMy wife calls me......... Can you just use Ed

Quite a few members in WA. Check the Local Help listing (left side of welcome page) for Wa members willing to help. I'm also sure that when WA members read your post they will post to let you know they are there and plentiful and more than willing to meet and answer your questions.

Thanked: 3Thanks guys, I have been using straights for about a month now and was stalking around here learning the whole time haha, I just finally joined the other day primarily for the wealth of knowledge here. I have gotten to where I can do my whole face and usually only one maybe two weepers on the ATG pass. I definitely learned a lot from this place stalking the restore pages on my current project, a Wade & Butcher 7/8 wedge, that had a couple problems with the edge geometry. gssixgun your posts and YouTube videos helped a lot with how to correct it and get a good edge on it, I have some snake wood scales on the way for it from a fellow member here. will be posting pics when its finished .
