    Default Hello from Sheffield UK

    Hi all.

When ever I have visited the US and answered "Sheffield" to the question "Where in the UK are you from?" I am always met with a puzzled look.

I somehow know that this isn't going to be the case here.

Anyway, I've just been thrown into the world of collecting razors on inheriting my granddad's shaving collection. Initially it was all going on the bay, but these pesky things are so beautiful in the hand I can't help but mutter "my precious".

I'm now selling most of my stuff on the bay, but want to keep a handful of special pieces to treasure and remember granddad with, maybe even add to.

I was going to keep a couple of box sets and sell the rest, but after admiring some of the individual items with their lovely scales all the box sets are listed.

I will be after some advice as to what I should keep, but from about 30 individual razors currently thinking about a pair of numbered J Nowills, a Puma, a Chad Clements, a Joseph Rodgers and a Dovo all with ivory (I think) scales.

I'll try and post some pics later.

Anyway, if anybody looks at what I'm selling and thinks "what the hell are you selling that for?" then let me know.

What the hell are you selling that for?

Maybe, one day, at a much later time...

Man, I would almost kill to have inherited some of my grandpas' shaving stuff but all was sold by other family members through the years. I did end up with grandpa's Norton hone............

I do feel bad selling this stuff, but my dad's had it hidden away for as long as I've been alive (50 years) and he was going to chuck it. It's only when he knew I'd sold some things on eBay that he gave it to me. I never knew about this stuff until a few days ago. It was all going to go on eBay ... but now ... feeling bad ...

I'm not too bothered about the roll of various razors, or the Wilkinson & Chad Clements boxes ... but having serious second thoughts about the A J Jordans .. and the ivory scales on the Edwin Lunch ones are rather nice ... and ... and ... arrrggghhh

For sentimental reasons, I would keep at least a few. Learning to shave like our forefathers is a nice past time. You could debate with yourself on what to keep and buy for so long that all of the razors get past down again.

Hi welcome to the SRP, I'm with you on these other than sentimental reasons I would sell them myself, nothing special just a bunch of run of the mill Sheffield shavers the Edwin Lunch have a nice set of Ivory scales other than that nothing stands out GLWTS.

Give your dad some money if that's what he wants and keep the razors
    That's what I would do

Maybe it's my razor addiction disorder, but I would at least shave with all of them first and then decide which ones to sell off.
