Good for you, the Gotta is a good razor, just go slow with the strop, maybe don't strop,it till
After the first shave so you will know what it feels like. And if you follow Lynn's instructions you will be fine, don't rush trying to do your whole face.. Good luck, and there is some guys up your way, a couple of them are barbers who used to have get togethers at their shop. Welcome!
As a newbie myself the best advice I can give you about maintaining the blade is...
What all the vid's you can about stropping.
Glen's, Lynn's, the "StropTober" sticky, and several of the other sources here on the forum, and practice.
I had an old nylon belt I kept hung in my office at work. I'd pull up a Metronome online (can't take credit for that idea; I got it from someone here on the site in a thread), grabbed a butter knife, and practiced in between patients. Go slow!
The only other thing is to emphasis finding someone in your area to mentor you on this journey. These guys are great.
JerKeep it safe and Cheers,
Jer
